FALL YARD WASTE TIPS

October 26, 2021

If it didn’t grow in your yard, it doesn’t belong in your Brown Cart!

Join the Brown Cart Brigade and Support GOLD GROW Compost

Join the “Brown Cart Brigade” by following this rule: Never place trash in your Brown Cart.

Recycle yard waste only in Brown Carts!

Only grass clippings, leaves, tree limbs up to 3 feet long, weeds and garden waste should go in your Brown Cart. Our Earth Centre team processes your yard waste to create the amazing, award-winning GOLD GROW biosolids compost. This means NO TRASH in your Brown Cart—including diapers, the wrapped newspaper on your driveway, landscaping material, plant containers, flower pots ... or any inorganic item. Trash in your Brown Cart increases the cost of making GOLD GROW compost and can decrease its quality!

  • FALL OPTION FOR LEAVES: During the fall months, you have an extra option to recycle leaves after you fill your Brown Cart. When your Brown Cart is full, you can use paper yard waste bags for leaves only. Set the leaf yard waste bags out behind, not beside, your Brown Cart on your collection day. Leaf bags are accepted for curbside collection in St. Peters during October, November and December. Curbside limit: 20 leaf bags
  • FALL DECORATIONS: Do you like to decorate your home for autumn with pumpkins, gourds, corn stalks and bales of straw? All of those items can be composted, so be sure to give these items a new life at the end of the season by simply recycling them in your Brown Cart! Please be sure to remove the twine or wire ties from your straw bales before recycling.
  • EARTH CENTRE DROP-OFF: In addition to curbside service, St. Peters residents can drop off yard waste at St. Peters’ Earth Centre, 115 Ecology Dr. Your Resident Privilege Card entitles you to drop off up to 10 cubic yards of yard waste (a total of 5 pickup truck loads) per year for FREE!
  • EARTH CENTRE PRODUCTS: Get your nutrient-rich, nationally certified GOLD GROW biosolids compost and double-ground mulch at Earth Centre. Sales of these products are available through the end of November on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Sales will halt during the winter months and resume in March. Bring your Resident Privilege Card for low resident rates on up to 10 cubic yards of product per year (5 pickup truck loads).
