Pavement Smoothing Work Expected on Jungermann between Country Creek and Barkwood Trails

October 1, 2021

Beginning Monday, Oct. 4, 2021, contractor Pavement Solutions is scheduled to begin work to improve pavement smoothness on Jungermann Road in the area of the bridge over Spencer Creek between Country Creek Drive and Barkwood Trails Drive. This work is being done to meet standards for ride smoothness as part of the Jungermann Road Bridge Replacement project. Original pavement work did not meet the City of St. Peters’ specifications, and this additional work is not costing extra taxpayer dollars.

Lane closures and some disruptions to traffic are expected over different periods in the coming weeks. The work will be done in three phases (view this map for reference):

  • Phase 1: The southbound lanes on Jungermann Road at the Spencer Creek bridge will undergo improvements, with work tentatively expected to begin Oct. 4. This will require both southbound lanes to close. The center turn lane will be used for one lane of southbound traffic during these closures. The southbound lane closures are expected to last about one week for Phase 1 then all lanes will be reopened.
  • Phase 2: All lanes on Jungermann Road north of the bridge at Spencer Creek to Barkwood Trails will undergo diamond grinding to improve smoothness. This work is expected to begin at the end of October and last for about two days. One to two lanes of travel will be closed at various times, in both directions, while diamond-grinding operations are taking place. Pavement diamond-grinding operations are expected to take two days.
  • Phase 3: After Phase 2 work is complete, the Spencer Creek bridge deck surface and adjacent barrier walls will be resurfaced with an epoxy polymer overlay. The work will require the northbound half of the bridge, then the southbound half of the bridge, to be closed. The alternating lane closures are expected to last for about three days.

Expect traffic delays during these operations. Drivers are asked to use caution, slow down and observe all traffic signs when traveling through work zones.
