Spencer to Close at Highway 370; Detour Available Using Premier Parkway South and Truman

The City of St. Peters is building a new interchange at Spencer Road and Highway 370 as part of the Salt River Road Extension project. To allow interchange construction, Spencer Road will be closed south of Highway 370, and the Spencer exit will be closed off from Highway 370, beginning next Wednesday, June 23, 2010. This area will be closed off from traffic for the rest of the year.

During construction, traffic will detour using Premier Parkway South and Truman Boulevard. A temporary traffic signal will operate at Premier Parkway South and Truman while Spencer is closed at Highway 370. Premier Parkway South runs between Spencer Road and Truman just south of Highway 370 through the Premier 370 Business Park. Southbound traffic on Highway 370 will exit on Truman to reach the Premier Parkway South detour to Spencer. Northbound traffic on Spencer will turn right onto Premier Parkway South to reach Truman and Highway 370. DOWNLOAD A PDF DOCUMENT OF THE SPENCER ROAD DETOUR.

When complete, the new grade-separated, tight diamond interchange will connect the new Salt River Road with Spencer and Highway 370.

The Salt River Road extension will be a new four-lane, east-west road stretching from Highway 370 to Highway 79.

The City of St. Peters is managing the portion of the project that extends from Highway 370 to Dardenne Creek west of Mid Rivers Mall Drive. This portion of the project includes a grade separated interchange with traffic signals, bridges over Spencer Creek and Dardenne Creek and a signalized intersection at newly extended Mid Rivers Mall Drive. The cost for this part of the project is $17 million, jointly funded by the City of St. Peters and St. Charles County. The portion of Salt River Road from Highway 370 to Mid Rivers Mall Drive is expected to be complete and open to traffic by the end of 2010. The remaining portion will be complete and open to traffic by the end of 2011.

The St. Charles County Highway Department will manage the rest of the project from Dardenne Creek west to Highway 79.
