2010 REC-PLEX WINTER GAMES Fun for the Entire Family, Any Skill Level
The St. Peters Rec-Plex has an event to make the whole family feel like Olympic athletes. The Rec-Plex Winter Games will keep the Olympic spirit alive right here at home. You don’t have to go to Vancouver … and you might just win a medal.
Parents are invited to bring their children ages 5 and up to the Rec-Plex north ice rink on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010, from 4-6 p.m. to participate in five on-ice activities—ice hockey, figure skating, curling, speed skating and slalom—all inspired by the Olympic games in Vancouver. You can also enjoy off-ice activities such as Olympic bingo and trivia. The cost is $5 per participant and covers skate rental. Be sure to register early—space is limited.
At the athlete check-in table, each registered participant will receive credentials allowing them to participate in the activities. You will also receive an agenda for the event explaining what’s required for each sport. After completing the events, participants will receive a medal and have an opportunity to pose on an awards stand for pictures.
No skating experience is required to participate in this first-time event. Teens and adults are also welcome to register and join in the fun. Children 7 and under must be accompanied by someone at least 13 years of age in order to participate. Skates must be worn at all times while on the ice.
Don’t forget to bring a camera to snap some pictures of your athletes during the activities and on the awards stand.
Looking for something to do after the Winter Games? Stay at the Rec-Plex with your family to watch local youngsters represent different countries of the world in the Winter Games’ 3 vs. 3 Hockey Tournament. St. Peters Spirit hockey players ages 7 and under will compete.
You can register for the Rec-Plex Winter Games in person at the Rec-Plex, 5200 Mexico Road, by phone at 636.939.2FUN, ext. 1400, or online using Rec-Connect. Registration ends Feb. 20.
