GRAND TETON EXTENSION, PHASE II (formerly Kimberly Lane) Estimated Cost: $1.1 million Contractor: Kuesel Excavating Scope: This project will re-construct Grand Teton Drive (formerly Kimberly Lane) from north of Mexico Road to Sue Mandy Drive, installing new pavement, drainage improvements and sidewalks. Roadway improvements start just south of Country Hill Road (at the north end of the Grand Teton Phase I improvements). The improvements will continue north to Suemandy Drive. The existing two-lane road section will be reconstructed to add a third lane, and the project also will include curb & gutter, storm sewers, and a 5-foot wide sidewalk on both sides of the road. The plans call for a 6-foot-high white vinyl fence to be installed at the edge of the road right-of-way between Eldorado Estates and Grand Teton. Currently: Grand Teton Drive reopened to two-way traffic on Nov. 23, 2009, after being closed to northbound traffic to allow for road construction. Construction is complete for the new driving lanes. JUNGERMANN ROAD & WILLOTT ROAD INTERSECTION Project Cost: $1,083,430 Contractor: XL Contracting Scope: This project will improve traffic flow at the Jungermann Road & Willott Road intersection by constructing additional turn lanes. The project also includes new traffic signals, curb and gutters, and storm sewers. Currently: Paving is being completed for the new driving lanes, and the new signals are operational. Work remaining includes sidewalk replacements and concrete slab replacement. The project is scheduled to be complete by the end of 2009. MID RIVERS MALL DRIVE SIGNAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT Estimated Cost: $322,000 Contractor: Unknown Scope: This project, funded through an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act grant, will upgrade four traffic signals on Mid Rivers Mall Drive between Ohmes Road and Cottleville Parkway. The upgrades will include the installation of video traffic detection cameras to improve traffic flow. Additionally, the roadway shoulders will be repaved in this area to improve safety. Currently: The design is under review by the Missouri Department of Transportation. After approval, all work is scheduled for completion by summer 2010. Aldermanic Ward: 2
MID RIVERS MALL DRIVE TURN LANE AT WILLOTT ROAD Project Cost: $236,343 Contractor: Southern Ditching & Excavating Scope:The project will construct a new right-turn lane for northbound Mid Rivers Mall Drive at Willott Road to relieve traffic congestion at the intersection. Currently: Storm sewer work has been completed and the new traffic lane is being constructed on Mid Rivers Mall Drive. The project is expected to be complete by the end of 2009. Aldermanic Ward: 2
SALT RIVER ROAD PHASE I (Mid Rivers Mall Drive extension) Project Cost: $2,569,465 Contractor: J.M. Marschuetz Scope: This project will extend Mid Rivers Mall Drive north from Ecology Drive to Iffrig Road. The four-lane concrete road will connect to the Salt River Road Improvement Project that will connect Spencer Road to Highway C and help relieve traffic on I-70. Phase I of the project also will pave a portion of Premier Parkway to provide a functioning 3-lane road and detour to the next phase of the Salt River Road Project. The detour will be available as Spencer Road is relocated during the next phase. (Premier Parkway will take traffic from Spencer Road to Cave Springs Road/Truman Boulevard, where drivers can access Highway 370. Premier 370 Business Park developers are building Premier Parkway through their property.) Currently: The new roadway north of Ecology Drive is complete, and the contractor has completed its work on the detour road (Premier Parkway). SALT RIVER ROAD PHASE II -- Embankments Project Cost: $1,586,000 Contractor: Kuessel Excavation Scope: This project will construct the embankment fills for the Salt River Road Improvement Project that will connect Spencer Road to Highway C. More than 200,000 cubic yards of fill material must be placed and compacted for the road base. The Salt River Road Improvement Project, when complete, will provide another east-west route that will help relieve traffic on I-70. Currently: As of early November, about 50 percent of the embankment material has been placed. Completion is scheduled for spring 2010. Aldermanic Ward: 1
SALT RIVER ROAD BRIDGES Project Cost: $3,199,355 Contractor: Pace Construction Scope: This project includes the construction of two bridges (over the Dardenne and Spencer Creeks) for the Salt River Road Improvement Project that will connect Spencer Road to Highway C. The bridge over Dardenne Creek will be 180 feet long with two spans. The bridge over Spencer Creek will be 340 feet long with three spans. WEST SUNNY HILL BOULEVARD Scope: West Sunny Hill Boulevard will be extended from south to north from Ohmes Road to Mexico Road. This new section of road will be east of Birdie Hills Road. The project will be completed in two phases, with the first phase running from Ohmes Road to within 1,200 feet of Mexico Road. Currently: Road construction, sidewalk construction and wall construction are complete for the first phase north of Ohmes.
